Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor and delivery
• Monitor fetal heart rates and contraction patterns, intervening as necessary
• Assist with deliveries, including cesarean sections, and provide immediate postpartum care
• Educate patients and families on labor progress, pain management, and newborn care
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe deliveries
• Document all aspects of patient care accurately and timely

Qualifications

• Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for L&D
• Minimum 1 year of recent Labor & Delivery experience
• Strong assessment and critical thinking skills

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of maternal-fetal medicine and obstetric emergencies
• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Ability to remain calm and effective in high-pressure situations
• Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to patient care
