Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using age-specific criteria to ensure the best outcomes
• Provide specialized post-operative care for open heart surgery patients, including chest tube and drain management
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and interpret changes to respond quickly to patient needs
• Assist with advanced procedures like chest tube removal, pericardial pacing wire removal, and temporary pacemaker management
• Manage non-invasive ventilation (NIV) and high-flow oxygen therapy for respiratory support
• Educate, guide, and supervise LPNs, PCTs, and unit secretaries to foster a collaborative care environment
• Float to all units within your skill level to support the entire health system

Qualifications

• 2+ years of nursing experience (required)
• Post-operative open heart care experience (required)
• Critical care experience is highly preferred
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring and rhythm interpretation
• Experience with chest tubes, drains, and temporary pacemakers
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification (required)
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification (required)
• Active Ohio or Compact RN license (required)
• Willingness to float to units within your skill set
