Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to keep every appointment safe and smooth
• Assist the orthodontist chairside during adjustments, banding, and wire changes
• Take dental radiographs and intraoral scans with precision and care
• Fit and adjust orthodontic appliances, retainers, and bands under the doctor's guidance
• Educate patients on oral hygiene, braces care, and post-appointment expectations
• Keep patient records accurate, organized, and up to date
• Manage orthodontic supplies and inventory so the team never misses a beat
• Create a warm, welcoming experience for every patient who walks through the door

Qualifications

• Ortho certification is required for this role
• Active Dental Assisting certification or licensure in Maryland
• Current CPR/BLS certification
• Previous orthodontic assisting experience preferred
• Strong chairside manner and a passion for patient care
• Ability to work well in a fast-paced dental practice
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Comfort with dental radiography and orthodontic instruments

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of orthodontic procedures and terminology
• Proficiency in chairside dental assisting
• Understanding of infection control and sterilization protocols
• Skill with dental radiography and intraoral scanning
• Ability to fit and adjust orthodontic appliances
• Strong patient education and interpersonal skills
• Detail-oriented record keeping and inventory management
• Teamwork and adaptability in a clinical setting
