Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist with chairside procedures, ensuring every patient has a comfortable and positive experience
- Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize instruments to maintain the highest standards of safety and hygiene
- Take and process dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the orthodontist
- Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene, appliance care, and post-treatment instructions
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including treatment plans and progress notes
- Manage dental supplies and ensure all equipment is properly maintained and ready for use
Qualifications
- Active certification or licensure as a Dental Assistant in Maryland (MD)
- Radiography (X-ray) certification for dental settings
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Prior chairside experience, preferably in orthodontics or dental specialties
- A warm, patient-centered approach and strong communication skills
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of orthodontic procedures and dental terminology
- Proficiency with dental instruments, sterilization techniques, and infection control protocols
- Familiarity with electronic health records and dental practice management software
- Attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a talent for making patients feel at ease
