Roles & Responsibilities
- Monitor patients' vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse oximetry, to ensure they are safe and stable during procedures
- Assist the oral surgeon with nitrous oxide and IV sedation, preparing and monitoring patients throughout their surgery
- Perform panoramic X-rays with precision, using proper infection control and radiation safety protocols
- Support wisdom tooth extraction surgeries by preparing the operatory, sterilizing instruments, and passing instruments smoothly to the surgeon
- Provide calm, caring support to patients before, during, and after their oral surgery to help them feel at ease
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical environment to keep the practice running efficiently
Qualifications
- Familiarity with vital signs monitors (BP, Pulse Oximetry) and the confidence to use them accurately
- Hands-on experience with nitrous oxide and IV sedation assistance in an oral surgery or dental setting
- Ability to take high-quality panoramic X-rays with attention to safety and patient comfort
- Prior involvement in wisdom tooth surgery procedures, from patient preparation to post-op support
- A current dental assistant certification or a strong equivalent background (as required by state/facility)
- Excellent communication skills and a warm, reassuring bedside manner
