Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem, Night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (days vary)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care and support to geriatric patients
Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting)
Safely transfer and ambulate patients, using proper body mechanics
Observe and report changes in patient condition to the nursing team
Maintain a clean, safe, and dignified environment for residents
Document care and interactions accurately and promptly

Qualifications

Valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification
Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred
Ability to work night shifts and flexible per diem schedules
Proof of required immunizations and a clear background check
Strong interpersonal skills and a patient-centered attitude

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of ADLs and geriatric care best practices
Skill in safe patient transfers and mobility assistance
Infection control and basic hygiene protocols
Clear, respectful communication with residents and team members
Basic charting and documentation skills
Observation skills to notice and escalate changes in condition
