Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Assist residents with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
Provide safe and compassionate bedside care tailored to the needs of geriatric patients
Take and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team promptly
Support mobility, transfers and fall prevention measures to keep residents safe
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care and observations
Communicate effectively with residents, families and interdisciplinary team members
Follow infection control practices and facility policies to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — required
Current CPR/BLS certification (or willingness to obtain)
Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by facility
Clean background check and ability to pass facility credentialing
Reliable transportation and punctuality for night shifts
Compassionate attitude, strong communication, and a team-player mindset

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

Hands-on experience with activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic patient care
Ability to take and document vital signs accurately
Knowledge of infection control and safe patient handling techniques
Strong interpersonal skills for working with older adults and families
Basic charting and documentation skills
Familiarity with dementia-related behaviors and de-escalation strategies
