Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem nights, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night shift; days scheduled as needed)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and feeding
Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes in condition
Support mobility and fall-prevention efforts to keep residents safe
Communicate clearly with nursing staff and families about resident needs
Maintain accurate documentation and follow infection control protocols

Qualifications

Valid GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
Comfortable working night shifts and providing hands-on resident care
Strong communication skills and a caring, patient demeanor
Ability to pass background checks and meet facility onboarding requirements

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved GNA program or equivalent certification

Knowledge & Skills

Experience or knowledge of geriatric care and resident-centered approaches
Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) assistance
Basic vital signs measurement and documentation skills
Infection control practices and safe patient handling
Good teamwork, time management, and observational skills
