Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM Day
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to support daily living activities for residents
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting while preserving dignity
- Support safe mobility and transfers following facility protocols
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Help create a warm, respectful atmosphere that promotes resident comfort
- Participate in team huddles and follow individualized care plans
Qualifications
- Active/valid GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification as required by the state
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; dependable and punctual
- Previous experience in long-term care or assisted living a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred; completion of an approved GNA program required
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and safety practices
- Skill in assisting with ADLs (activities of daily living)
- Ability to follow care plans and accurately document observations
- Gentle, patient approach to dementia-related behaviors and mobility support
- Basic infection control and hand hygiene practices
