Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem (as-needed), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents, helping with activities of daily living
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility support, and fall prevention to keep residents secure
- Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
- Support meal assistance and hydration while respecting individual needs and preferences
- Document care activities and observations accurately and timely in the resident record
- Collaborate with the care team to create a warm, respectful environment for residents and families
Qualifications
- Current GNA / Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification (required)
- State-required nursing assistant registry listing (as applicable)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Comfortable working with older adults and supporting mobility and ADLs
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently on per diem shifts
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved Nursing Assistant / GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in safe resident handling and basic mobility assistance
- Familiarity with charting basic care activities and communicating observations
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and staff
- Ability to follow care plans and infection control practices
