Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver compassionate, patient-centered occupational therapy services under the plan of care
• Assist in implementing therapeutic interventions that promote independence in daily living
• Document patient progress, treatment notes, and outcome measures accurately and timely
• Collaborate with OTs, nurses, and the rehab team to coordinate care and optimize outcomes
• Educate patients and families on adaptive strategies, equipment use, and safety
• Maintain treatment areas, therapy equipment, and infection control standards

Qualifications

• Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) credential required
• Current state licensure or authorization to practice in West Virginia (as applicable)
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working in a rehab/long-term care setting and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams
• Strong communication and documentation skills; organized and patient-focused

Education

• Completion of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program (Associate degree or diploma)
• Successful completion of certification exam required for COTA credentialing

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic techniques for adaptive daily living and mobility
• Experience with ADL training, transfers, splinting basics, and assistive devices
• Familiarity with electronic medical records and regulatory documentation
• Ability to assess functional status and contribute to measurable goals
• Strong interpersonal skills for coaching patients and working with families
