Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the surgical services team to deliver safe, high-quality perioperative care
  • Oversee daily operations of surgical services, ensuring efficient workflows and patient-centered processes
  • Supervise staff and delegate duties to maintain high standards of care and operational efficiency
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesia, nursing and ancillary departments to optimize patient outcomes
  • Implement short- and long-term solutions to operational challenges and clinical issues
  • Maintain composure and direct appropriate immediate responses during true emergencies
  • Support staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance feedback
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of hazardous materials

Qualifications

  • Current California RN license (required)
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required)
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent (required)
  • Minimum of 5 years RN experience, including at least 2 years as a circulating RN in surgery (required)
  • Current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications (required)
  • CNOR certification (preferred)
  • One year of Post-Anesthesia Care (PACU) experience (preferred)
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or management experience (preferred)
  • Strong written and oral English communication skills (required)

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

  • Perioperative nursing and circulating RN expertise
  • Surgical services management and operational oversight
  • Staff supervision, delegation and team leadership
  • Patient-centered care and post-anesthesia knowledge
  • Emergency response, crisis composure and triage coordination
  • Problem identification, root cause analysis and implementation of solutions
  • Clear verbal and written communication with multidisciplinary teams
  • Awareness of regulatory and safety practices related to hazardous materials
