Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, evidence-based critical care to a medically complex ICU population
• Perform thorough patient assessments and manage medications safely and accurately
• Operate and manage ventilators (Gallileo and G5) and perform manual proning when required
• Interpret EKG strips and respond appropriately to dysrhythmias and acute changes
• Collaborate with tele-intensivist services and onsite team to coordinate patient care
• Document care comprehensively in Cerner and report at the bedside during handoffs
• Support unit operations including float coverage to other Sacramento facilities as needed
• Serve as charge nurse when assigned, providing break relief and assisting with team coordination

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license for California
• BLS and ACLS required, NIHSS required
• Minimum 2 years of recent ICU experience
• Ability to pass the dysrhythmia exam through UNA within 24-48 hours of acceptance (two attempts allowed)
• Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months and one within 3 years)
• Willingness to work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years) during travel assignment
• Ability to float to other Sacramento facilities and be put on-call if needed

Education

• Active RN license (ADN/ASN acceptable; BSN preferred but not required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong critical care assessment and medication management skills
• Proficient in Cerner electronic medical record documentation
• EKG interpretation and dysrhythmia recognition
• Experience with ventilator management and manual proning
• Clear communication and teamwork in high-acuity settings
• Comfort working with telemedicine technology and remote intensivist support
