Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare operating rooms by sterilizing equipment, arranging supplies, and verifying functionality before each procedure
• Assist surgeons and registered nurses by passing instruments, holding retractors, and maintaining a sterile field
• Anticipate the surgical team's needs to ensure smooth procedural flow and minimize delays
• Accurately count sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after surgery
• Help position and drape patients, ensuring comfort, safety, and proper exposure
• Monitor and restock surgical inventory, rotating supplies and checking expiration dates
• Collaborate with the care team to uphold infection control standards and patient safety protocols

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) required
• Current BLS certification required
• License/Certificate Verification must be completed
• Successful completion of an accredited surgical technology program required
• Willingness to complete Trinity Skills Checklist and Specialty Specific Competency Testing
• Must meet Trinity Health vaccination and health screening requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of sterile technique, surgical instruments, and OR procedures
• Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
• Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations
• Clear communication and teamwork skills
• Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods
