Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver critical cardiac surgical nursing care to patients in the operating room and recovery areas.
• Administer medications, monitor vital signs, and manage post‑operative complications.
• Collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Perform comprehensive assessments and document findings accurately in the electronic health record.
• Educate patients and families about cardiac procedures, recovery plans, and post‑discharge care.

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Iowa.
• BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and NIHSS certifications.
• Experience in cardiac or surgical nursing preferred, but entry‑level candidates with strong clinical skills are welcome.
• Ability to work night shifts and alternate weekends.
• Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills.

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac surgical nursing fundamentals.
• Proficiency in BLS, ACLS, TNCC, NIHSS protocols.
• Familiarity with Trinity Specialty Competency Testing and Skills Checklist.
• Ability to interpret and manage complex patient data.
• Competence in electronic health record documentation.
