Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence‑based nursing care to laboring mothers and newborns
• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs using AWHONN guidelines
• Assist physicians with deliveries, including cesarean sections and operative vaginal births
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Document all assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the EMR

Qualifications

• Current RN license in Connecticut
• BLS, ACLS, and NRP certifications
• AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring certification
• Successful completion of Trinity Skills Checklist and specialty competency testing
• Ability to pass required health screenings and background checks

Knowledge & Skills

• Labor and delivery nursing best practices
• Fetal heart monitoring interpretation
• Maternal‑fetal assessment and emergency response
• Pain management techniques for labor
• Effective communication with interdisciplinary team
