Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess, monitor, and treat patients with respiratory disorders in a variety of settings
• Administer oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and mechanical ventilation as prescribed
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to develop and adjust patient care plans
• Perform diagnostic tests such as arterial blood gas analysis and pulmonary function testing
• Educate patients and their families on respiratory care techniques and equipment
• Document patient status, progress, and treatment responses accurately in medical records

Qualifications

• Active Respiratory Therapist license in the state of Iowa
• BLS and ACLS certification required (must be current)
• Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred, but new grads are welcome to apply
• Ability to pass a background check, drug screening, and facility health requirements

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of respiratory therapy equipment and techniques
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients, families, and your care team
• Ability to work night shifts and stay alert for 12-hour periods
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure situations
