Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients' respiratory status and develop personalized care plans
• Administer respiratory therapies such as oxygen, aerosol medications, and ventilator support
• Monitor and adjust mechanical ventilation to optimize patient outcomes
• Document treatments and patient responses accurately in Cerner EMR
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and correctional staff to ensure comprehensive care
• Respond quickly to respiratory emergencies and provide life-saving interventions
• Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment for safe operation

Qualifications

• Active California Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) certification
• Current BLS certification required
• Experience with CDCR or Cerner EMR is a big plus
• Ability to pass background checks and comply with correctional facility requirements
• Strong communication and teamwork skills

Knowledge & Skills

• In-depth knowledge of respiratory care protocols and procedures
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• Understanding of correctional healthcare policies and safety practices
• Excellent clinical assessment and critical thinking abilities
• Skilled at working calmly in high-pressure situations
• Compassionate communication with patients and colleagues
