Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist the orthodontist during patient examinations and procedures
- Prepare patients and treatment rooms for orthodontic appointments
- Take and process dental X-rays and impressions
- Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene and orthodontic care
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with charting
- Support a welcoming and efficient office environment
Qualifications
- Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) as required in Maryland
- Current X-ray certification or ability to obtain upon hire
- Previous orthodontic assisting experience preferred
- CPR/BLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced dental office
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of dental and orthodontic terminology
- Familiarity with dental software and patient management systems
- Understanding of sterilization and infection control protocols
- Excellent patient care and customer service skills
- Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
