Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform thorough preoperative assessments to ensure patients are ready for surgery
• Prepare patients for procedures, including starting IVs and administering medications
• Coordinate with the surgical team to ensure smooth patient flow
• Educate patients and families about what to expect before surgery
• Maintain a calm, reassuring environment for anxious patients
• Document patient information accurately and efficiently

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio or compact state
• BLS certification required (ACLS preferred)
• Previous pre-op, surgical, or critical care nursing experience is a plus
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Compassionate and patient-centered approach to care

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of preoperative assessment protocols and surgical preparation
• Skilled in IV insertion, medication administration, and patient monitoring
• Excellent communication and patient education abilities
• Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
• Ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff
