Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality direct nursing care for oncology and post-surgical patients
• Assess and monitor patient status and intervene promptly to ensure safety and comfort
• Administer medications and therapies safely, documenting thoroughly in Cerner
• Support and educate patients and families about treatments, recovery, and self-care
• Coordinate care with physicians, pharmacists, CNAs, and interdisciplinary team members
• Assist with unit procedures and respond effectively during patient emergencies
• Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring teammates and sharing best practices

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in North Carolina or compact privileges)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, oncology or med-surg experience preferred
• Chemo certification is a plus and will make you stand out
• Experience with Cerner or similar EMR preferred
• Comfortable working overnight shifts and participating in weekend coverage
• Ability to manage typical oncology patient ratios (approximately 1:4 to 1:5)

Knowledge & Skills

• Oncology nursing fundamentals and med-surg care
• Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
• Strong patient assessment and critical thinking skills
• Safe medication and IV therapy administration practices
• Experience supporting procedures such as thoracentesis and echo monitoring
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to prioritize care in a fast-paced hospital unit
