Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, family-centered nursing care to pediatric patients on a medical-surgical unit
- Assess, plan, and implement individualized care plans for children with a variety of medical conditions
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments safely and accurately
- Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status, responding quickly to changes
- Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, and discharge instructions
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and the healthcare team to ensure optimal outcomes
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record
- Advocate for the unique needs of pediatric patients and their families
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Massachusetts or a compact state
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
- PALS certification preferred
- Previous pediatric or med/surg nursing experience is a plus
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to communicate warmly and effectively with children and families
- Compassionate, patient, and adaptable approach to care
Knowledge & Skills
- Pediatric assessment and developmental milestones
- Medication administration and IV therapy
- Electronic health record (EHR) proficiency
- Family-centered communication and education
- Care prioritization in a fast-paced med/surg environment
- Team collaboration and interdisciplinary coordination
- Clinical documentation and compliance standards
