Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, expert care to mothers and babies during labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal vital signs and respond quickly to changes
• Assist with deliveries, including newborn resuscitation and assessment
• Educate and empower families on newborn care and recovery
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure safe, positive outcomes
• Maintain accurate, thorough documentation and uphold the highest standards of patient safety

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Virginia (or compact state license)
• Current BLS certification required
• NRP certification strongly preferred
• Previous labor and delivery experience preferred
• A passion for maternal-child health and a team-first mindset

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid understanding of labor and delivery procedures and protocols
• Ability to interpret fetal monitoring strips and identify concerns early
• Excellent communication and patient education skills
• Calm, focused approach in fast-paced and high-pressure situations
• A compassionate, respectful bedside manner
