Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert emergency assessments and deliver timely, high-quality care in a critical access hospital setting
• Make independent clinical decisions and manage the ED solo overnight with House Coordinator backup
• Stabilize and triage patients, initiate life-saving interventions, and coordinate transfers when needed
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and use evidence-based protocols including stroke and trauma pathways
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively with patients and families
• Participate in quality improvement activities and help maintain a safe, patient-centered environment
• Mentor and support colleagues when staffing or clinical complexity requires teamwork

Qualifications

• Active RN license in New Hampshire (Compact allowed) required
• Minimum 2 years current Emergency Room experience required
• Previous experience working in a Critical Access Hospital required
• Ability to work independently overnight with strong clinical judgment
• Current American Heart Association BLS required
• Current American Heart Association ACLS required
• Current PALS required
• Current TNCC required
• Current NIHSS required
• BSN highly preferred
• NRP and ENPC highly preferred
• One supervisory signed reference from the past year required
• All licenses and certifications must be current at time of submission

Education

• Active RN license (New Hampshire) required
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in emergency and critical care nursing principles
• Strong triage and rapid assessment skills
• Proficiency in airway management, IV therapy, medication administration, and ECG interpretation
• Familiarity with stroke assessment using NIHSS and trauma management (TNCC)
• Comfort working independently and prioritizing care in low-resource settings
• Excellent communication, documentation, and patient education skills
• Ability to coordinate transfers and work with regional resources
