Roles & Responsibilities

• Triage and assess patients presenting to the emergency department, prioritizing care based on acuity
• Administer medications, start IVs, and perform emergency interventions as ordered
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health staff to deliver comprehensive emergency care
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the electronic health record
• Educate patients and families on discharge instructions and follow-up care
• Maintain a calm, focused presence during high-stress situations and emergencies

Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in Louisiana or a compact state
• Current BLS certification (AHA or equivalent); ACLS preferred
• At least 1 year of emergency department or acute care nursing experience preferred
• Ability to work flexible per diem shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program

Knowledge & Skills

• Emergency nursing assessment and triage protocols
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) standards
• Intravenous therapy and medication administration
• Electronic health records (EHR) charting, especially Epic or Cerner
• Crisis management and rapid decision-making
• Excellent interpersonal and patient education skills
