Roles & Responsibilities

• Plan and implement therapeutic recreation activities to improve the physical, social, and emotional well-being of patients in a mental health setting
• Assess patient needs and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Facilitate group and individual sessions, including arts, crafts, sports, and community outings
• Document patient progress and adjust interventions to meet evolving goals
• Promote a safe, supportive environment that encourages patient engagement and recovery

Qualifications

• Current certification as a Recreational Therapist (CTRS preferred) or eligible
• Valid CPR and First Aid certification
• Experience working in mental health or psychiatric settings is a plus
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with patients and staff
• Ability to adapt activities to diverse patient populations and needs

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles and evidence-based practices
• Understanding of mental health conditions and behavioral interventions
• Excellent organizational and documentation skills
• Creative problem-solving and group facilitation abilities
• Empathy, patience, and a genuine passion for helping others
