Roles & Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and vision assessments for adult patients
• Evaluate and manage common ocular conditions, and refer when specialized care is needed
• Prescribe corrective lenses and provide contact lens fittings with patient education
• Document findings accurately in patient records and maintain clear communication with the care team
• Support population health efforts by participating in clinic workflows and quality initiatives
• Provide compassionate, professional care in a correctional facility setting while maintaining safety and compliance

Qualifications

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) preferred
• Active state optometry license or eligibility to obtain state licensure
• Experience performing routine and medical eye exams and prescribing corrective lenses
• Comfort working in institutional or correctional healthcare settings is a strong plus
• Willingness to complete required facility onboarding, background checks, and training
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently during clinic days

Education

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) or equivalent clinical training preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in refraction, ocular health assessment, and contact lens fitting
• Knowledge of common ocular diseases and when to escalate care
• Accurate clinical documentation and basic familiarity with electronic health records
• Infection control practices and safe, professional patient interactions
• Time management skills to deliver thorough care in a focused, part-time shift
