Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
• Monitor and record vital signs and report changes promptly to the nursing team
• Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful conversation and activities
• Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and resident observations
• Follow infection control protocols and facility policies to protect residents and staff
• Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent required
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check and any required health screenings
• Comfortable working with older adults and supporting their physical and emotional needs
• Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA/Geriatric Nursing Assistant program required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of basic geriatric care principles and resident-centered approaches
• Practical skills in taking vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and safe transfers
• Familiarity with infection prevention and safe work practices
• Clear documentation and basic charting abilities
• Strong interpersonal skills and patience when supporting residents
• Ability to follow care plans and take direction from nursing staff
