Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (night shift; days as scheduled)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
Monitor and record vital signs and report changes in condition to nursing staff
Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and equipment
Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and assist with meal and hygiene needs
Communicate clearly and respectfully with residents, families, and the care team
Document care and observations accurately to help ensure continuity of care

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (required)
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Current CPR/BLS certification or willingness to obtain
Previous experience working with elderly patients preferred but new grads are welcome
Ability to pass facility background checks and health screenings

Education

GNA certification required
High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Comfortable assisting with ADLs (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding)
Basic vital sign measurement and charting skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with older adults
Ability to follow care plans and report changes clearly
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently on assigned shifts
