Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (as scheduled), 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM NOC (Night shift)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $19 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate personal care to residents, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
Assist with mobility and safe transfers to maintain resident independence and safety
Take and record vital signs and report any concerning changes to the nursing team
Document care provided accurately and promptly in the resident record
Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents receive appropriate nourishment
Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
Communicate respectfully and clearly with residents, families, and the care team to promote coordinated care

Qualifications

Certified Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) — required
Current CPR/BLS certification — required or willing to obtain
High school diploma or GED preferred
Prior experience working with geriatric or long-term care residents is a plus
Able to pass background check and drug screen
Strong communication skills, patience, and a caring attitude

Education

Completion of an approved GNA training program or equivalent
High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

Familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs) and geriatric care principles
Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
Knowledge of infection control and safe handling techniques
Comfortable assisting with transfers and mobility support
Good documentation habits and attention to detail
Team-oriented mindset and strong interpersonal skills
