Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Bowie, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night); days vary based on facility needs

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
Monitor resident well-being and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using appropriate body mechanics
Support mealtime and hydration needs, including documentation of intake
Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control protocols
Collaborate with the care team to ensure each resident receives personalized, dignified care

Qualifications

GNA certification or equivalent state nursing assistant certification required
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with residents and families
Physical ability to assist with transfers and essential resident care tasks
Comfort with night shift routines and a commitment to resident safety

Education

High school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
Skilled in assisting with ADLs, mobility, and safe transfer techniques
Basic documentation and reporting skills
Understanding of infection control and resident safety practices
Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
