Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living — bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting with respect and dignity
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and record resident conditions and behaviors, reporting changes promptly to nursing staff
• Assist with meal service and feeding, ensuring dietary needs and preferences are respected
• Maintain a clean, safe and comfortable environment for residents, following infection control procedures
• Communicate compassionately with residents and families, fostering trust and emotional support
• Accurately document care provided and participate in shift handoffs to ensure continuity

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required by facility
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility immunization requirements
• Comfort working in long-term care or geriatric settings; per diem flexibility required
• Strong communication skills and a team-first attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of basic resident care and ADLs (activities of daily living)
• Ability to take and record vital signs accurately
• Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
• Good observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
• Basic documentation and charting skills
• Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
