Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Bowie, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Per diem night shift, 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night); days vary based on facility needs
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $18 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct care to geriatric residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Monitor resident well-being and promptly report any changes to nursing staff
- Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using appropriate body mechanics
- Support mealtime and hydration needs, including documentation of intake
- Maintain a clean, comfortable environment and follow infection control protocols
- Collaborate with the care team to ensure each resident receives personalized, dignified care
Qualifications
- GNA certification or equivalent state nursing assistant certification required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or required per facility policy
- Ability to pass background check and drug screening as required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with residents and families
- Physical ability to assist with transfers and essential resident care tasks
- Comfort with night shift routines and a commitment to resident safety
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
- Skilled in assisting with ADLs, mobility, and safe transfer techniques
- Basic documentation and reporting skills
- Understanding of infection control and resident safety practices
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
