Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on personal care to geriatric residents, helping with daily living activities
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
• Support mealtimes and hydration, ensuring dignity and comfort during dining
• Observe residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and courteously, maintaining clear communication with the care team
• Help maintain a clean, safe environment for residents by following infection control and safety protocols
• Engage residents with respectful conversation and social interaction to promote well-being

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or equivalent credential (required)
• Previous experience in long-term care, assisted living, or geriatric settings is a plus
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to pass background check, immunization and TB screening per facility policy
• Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and reliability

Education

• GNA certification or completion of a recognized nursing assistant program
• High school diploma or GED preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of activities of daily living and resident-centered care
• Basic vital signs measurement and observation skills
• Familiarity with infection control practices and safe hygiene
• Accurate documentation and clear communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with older adults

This per-diem role is based in Bowie, MD, a friendly community with plenty to explore.
