Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting) with dignity and respect
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Observe and report changes in residents’ condition to the nursing team promptly
• Document care and interventions clearly and accurately according to facility protocols
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Follow infection control and safety procedures to protect residents and staff

Qualifications

• Current GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) certification or equivalent as required by the facility
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working with older adults and assisting with personal care
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with nursing staff
• Reliable, compassionate, and patient-focused attitude

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of an accredited GNA program or state-approved training

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care and common age-related conditions
• Basic vital signs knowledge and ability to observe changes in condition
• Safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Effective documentation and reporting skills
• Infection prevention and control practices
• Teamwork, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills
