Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, prioritizing dignity and comfort
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, mobility and feeding
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to nursing staff
• Support safe transfers, positioning and fall prevention protocols
• Document care accurately and maintain clear, timely communication with the care team
• Engage residents in respectful conversation and meaningful activities to support quality of life

Qualifications

• Active GNA certification or state equivalent (required)
• Current CPR/BLS certification (preferred or obtain upon hire)
• Experience working with older adults or in a long-term care setting is a plus
• Comfortable working night shifts and adapting to per diem schedules
• Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate bedside manner
• Ability to pass facility-required background checks and health screenings

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and state certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe resident handling, transfers and fall prevention
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Effective communication with residents, families and interdisciplinary teams
• Attention to detail and adherence to infection control practices
• Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs during a shift
