Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate occupational therapy assistance to help patients regain independence in daily activities
• Implement individualized treatment plans under the direction of an occupational therapist
• Use evidence-based techniques and adaptive equipment to support patient goals
• Document patient progress accurately and communicate updates to the care team
• Coach patients and families on activity modification, safety, and home programs
• Collaborate with nurses, therapists, and physicians to ensure coordinated care
• Contribute to a positive, patient-focused environment that celebrates progress

Qualifications

• Current COTA certification (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant)
• Active or eligible for New Jersey state licensure or certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Comfortable working within an interdisciplinary rehab/therapy setting
• Clear background check and required immunizations per facility policy
• Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program or equivalent

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in assisting with ADL training and activity adaptation
• Knowledge of adaptive equipment, splinting basics, and positioning techniques
• Proficient documentation and charting skills
• Strong clinical observation and safety assessment abilities
• Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a multidisciplinary team
• Patient education and family training experience
