Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled, compassionate care to hemodynamically stable and predictably unstable patients on the progressive care unit
• Perform thorough patient assessments and intervene quickly when conditions change
• Manage advanced medical equipment including multiple IV pumps and ventilatory support
• Care for patients with central lines, arterial lines, chest tubes, nasogastric tubes, and continuous bladder irrigation
• Interpret telemetry and EKGs to guide timely clinical decisions
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient-centered care plans
• Lead clinical practice on the unit, assist with precepting and mentor newer staff
• Coordinate discharge planning and ensure safe transitions of care
• Provide clear direction to nursing and support staff to maintain smooth unit operations

Qualifications

• Current Montana RN licensure (required)
• BLS, ACLS, PALS (required or to be obtained within 6 months of hire)
• Practice experience in an advanced medical/surgical unit with recent progressive care or critical care experience (required)
• EPNC and TNCC certifications preferred
• Strong clinical assessment skills and comfort with high-acuity patients
• Ability to operate advanced medical equipment and manage invasive lines and ventilators
• Demonstrated teamwork, communication, and leadership abilities

Education

• Degree from a Nursing Program

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and EKG interpretation
• Ventilator support and short-term mechanical ventilation care
• Management of arterial lines, central lines and chest tubes
• Use of multiple IV pumps and advanced medical equipment
• Patient assessment, clinical decision making, and rapid response
• Discharge planning and interdisciplinary collaboration
• Precepting and clinical leadership skills
