Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to progressive care unit and stepdown patients, managing complex post-op and trauma cases
• Monitor telemetry and interpret cardiac rhythms to detect changes early and intervene appropriately
• Administer and manage IV drips and titratable medications safely and accurately
• Collaborate closely with physicians, techs and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate timely care plans
• Perform thorough assessments and document findings in the EMR (Meditech experience helpful)
• Educate patients and families with empathy, ensuring understanding of care plans and discharge instructions
• Support a culture of safety by following unit policies, performing Q4 assessments and escalating concerns promptly

Qualifications

• Active RN license (able to practice in Texas; compact license accepted if applicable)
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience (progressive care/telemetry preferred)
• ACLS, BLS and NIH certification required
• Experience with telemetry monitoring and IV drip management
• Strong customer service and communication skills; team-player attitude
• Meditech experience is a plus; trauma or orthopedic experience preferred

Education

• Active RN license required; ADN or BSN acceptable, BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Management of titratable IV drips (heparin, amiodarone, dobutamine, etc.)
• Post-op and trauma patient care in a stepdown/PCU environment
• Familiarity with Meditech EMR workflows
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, level 2 trauma center environment
• Strong clinical assessment, critical-thinking and delegation skills
