Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert critical care to adult and geriatric MICU patients, managing complex, hemodynamically compromised cases
• Manage mechanical ventilation and ventilator weaning protocols with attention to ABG interpretation
• Operate and monitor CRRT (NxStage) and titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips safely
• Care for patients with arterial lines, central lines, PICC lines and chest tubes with meticulous line management
• Administer chemotherapy and complex medication regimens while adhering to safety and monitoring standards
• Perform advanced assessment, respond to dysrhythmias and participate in rapid response and emergency interventions
• Document care accurately in EPIC and communicate clearly with the interdisciplinary team
• Support infection prevention and isolation precautions, including appropriate PPE use

Qualifications

• Current RN license (state of practice) and active credentials to work in Ohio
• Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIH/NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of professional experience (must meet requirement within the 3 most recent years) with at least 1 year of current specialty (critical care/MICU) experience
• Epic charting experience required
• Travel nurse experience required; no first-time travelers accepted
• Ability to manage a 1:2 patient ratio in critical care settings
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline

Knowledge & Skills

• Mechanical ventilation and ventilator management, including ABG interpretation
• Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) and familiarity with NxStage machines
• Arterial pressure monitoring and arterial line management
• Central/PICC line care, blood product administration and IV starts
• High flow nasal cannula, BiPAP/CPAP management and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips
• Phlebotomy, infection prevention and adherence to isolation precautions
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic charting and use of unit equipment (Alaris IV pumps, GE monitors, Cortrak NG/Dobhoff)
