Roles & Responsibilities

• Collaborate with physicians to build care plans that return patients to optimal health
• Deliver exceptional bedside nursing care and carry out medical orders with confidence
• Delegate and oversee Nurse Assistants, Patient Care Associates, Surgical Service Assistants, Nursing Clerks and Psychiatric Techs
• Evaluate the effectiveness of care plans and adjust as patient needs evolve
• Integrate evidence-based knowledge into everyday practice
• Facilitate and participate in patient conferences that keep everyone aligned
• Identify and meet ongoing discharge and transfer teaching needs for patients and families
• Precept and mentor new employees and students as they grow in their careers
• Function as a team leader, ensuring proper patient placement and fair delegation of assignments
• Communicate relevant information clearly and effectively across the care team
• Show off your organizational skills through thoughtful planning and time management

Qualifications

• 2+ years of ICU experience is required
• Open heart experience is required
• Comfortable floating to the ED and Step Down units
• Current BLS certification, documentation required
• Current ACLS certification, documentation required
• NIHSS certification, documentation required
• Active Michigan RN license
• TCAR, TNCC, CCRN or SCRN certifications are a nice bonus
• Travel experience preferred
• Neuro surgical experience preferred
• A team player who brings energy, reliability and heart to every shift

• Teaches and/or guides professional and ancillary personnel.
• Precepts/mentors new employees and students.
• Functions as a team leader to ensure proper patient placement and delegation of assignments.
