Candidate Pay Rate: $64 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert nursing care to patients in a fast-paced Level I Trauma Center, handling everything from trauma and sepsis to chest pain and stroke
  • Triage and prioritize care for 20 beds, 5 trauma bays, and 10 observation beds with a patient-family centered approach
  • Administer medications, manage drips, and monitor patients while interpreting ECGs and reading your own cardiac strips
  • Collaborate with a dedicated team of physicians, mid-levels, charge nurses, and support staff to ensure optimal outcomes
  • Float to the Observation Unit and Freestanding Creighton ER as needed, bringing your skills where they’re most needed
  • Pass a comprehensive open-book orientation exam with a 90% score, demonstrating your mastery of ER nursing

Qualifications

  • Active RN license in Nebraska or compact state (or willingness to obtain)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Emergency Department experience
  • Recent Level 1 or Level 2 trauma experience required
  • Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC certifications (NRP preferred)
  • Valid driver's license required for submittal and to verify 50-mile radius compliance
  • Ability to thrive in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment and complete orientation successfully

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of evidence-based trauma and emergency nursing practices
  • Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records
  • Excellent ECG interpretation skills, including the ability to read and interpret strips
  • Familiarity with all common drips used in Level I trauma emergency rooms
  • Exceptional critical thinking, prioritization, and communication skills
  • Flexibility to float to different units and adapt to changing patient needs
