Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform one-time Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams and Separation Health Assessments for Veterans with compassion and clinical clarity
• Conduct thorough clinical interviews and targeted physical assessments, including range-of-motion and muscle-strength testing using a goniometer
• Complete standardized Disability Benefits Questionnaires (DBQs) and submit them via the provider portal within 48 hours of the exam
• Review medical records as needed and incorporate findings into objective, high-quality DBQ documentation
• Provide clear medical opinions and timely addendums when follow-up administrative work is required
• Participate in required training (VA DMA, Reach360 orientation, DBQ training) and demonstrate readiness during PEP/check-in sessions
• Coordinate with schedulers and VES staff to ensure Veterans are seen and cases are completed according to process

Qualifications

• Active clinical provider credential: NP (General Medicine/Family/Internal preferred) or Physician (MD/DO) with relevant clinical background
• Experience or comfort with Compensation & Pension exams, DBQ completion, or prior VA-related evaluations is highly valued
• Familiarity with musculoskeletal assessment (goniometer use, ROM testing) and METs testing
• Ability to evaluate and document respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological conditions
• Willingness to complete VA DMA certification and VES Reach360 training (training provided; certification required once privileged)
• Comfort completing documentation in a web-based provider portal and meeting 48-hour report submission expectations
• Own a personal laptop (note: NO MACs as specified by client) and reliable internet access for portal work

Education

• NP or MD/DO (appropriate professional licensure and clinical training required)

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in clinical interview-based examinations and objective physical assessment
• Proficient with goniometer and standardized range-of-motion measurement techniques
• Able to perform muscle strength testing and METs assessments
• Experience with DBQ completion and familiarity with standardized disability reporting
• Capable of focused record review and integrating prior documentation into evaluations
• Comfortable delivering concise medical opinions and addendums when required
• Familiar with musculoskeletal, diabetes, cardiac, respiratory, and neurological conditions
