Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide skilled physical therapy treatments under the direction of a licensed PT to help patients regain mobility and independence
• Implement individualized plans of care focused on outpatient acquired brain injury (ABI) recovery
• Assist with therapeutic exercise, gait training, balance activities, and functional mobility tasks
• Monitor patient progress and document outcomes in the medical record promptly and accurately
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team to coordinate care
• Educate patients and caregivers on home exercise programs and safety techniques
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of therapeutic equipment and assistive devices
• Contribute to a positive, patient-centered environment that supports rehabilitation goals

Qualifications

• Licensed PTA in the state of practice or eligible to obtain state licensure
• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or able to obtain prior to start
• Experience in outpatient settings; experience with acquired brain injury (ABI) is strongly preferred
• Strong clinical documentation skills and comfort with electronic medical records
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work within an interdisciplinary team

Education

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of therapeutic exercise prescription and progression
• Gait training and balance assessment skills
• Familiarity with modalities and adaptive equipment
• Skilled in patient education and caregiver training
• Good clinical reasoning and outcome measurement use
• Time management and ability to manage a caseload
• Competence with electronic documentation systems
• Professionalism and strong interpersonal skills
