Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists with patient examinations and orthodontic procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
- Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and operatories, maintaining the highest standards of infection control.
- Take and process dental radiographs, impressions, and records to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Guide patients through their orthodontic journey with clear communication and a warm, reassuring presence.
- Document patient treatment details accurately in the electronic health record.
- Keep the dental office organized and stocked, so every appointment runs on time.
Qualifications
- Active Dental Assistant certification or registration in Maryland (or eligibility to obtain).
- Current dental radiography certification.
- Experience as an orthodontic dental assistant is a big plus, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
- Excellent communication skills and a patient-first approach.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of orthodontic instruments, brackets, wires, and bonding techniques.
- Skill in taking dental X-rays, pouring models, and creating impressions.
- Familiarity with dental software for scheduling and patient records.
- Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Attention to detail and commitment to infection control.
