Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality obstetric hospitalist coverage for labor and delivery and inpatient obstetrics
• Manage obstetric and related GYN patients (approximately 20% of practice) with clinical confidence
• Document thoroughly and efficiently in EPIC to ensure continuity of care
• Respond promptly to deliveries, obstetric consults, and urgent situations to keep moms and babies safe
• Collaborate with labor and delivery nurses, anesthesia, neonatology, and consulting teams
• Communicate clearly with patients and families, offering calm guidance in high-stress moments
• Contribute to patient flow and safe disposition decisions to support the hospital’s operations

Qualifications

• Physician (MD or DO) with clinical experience in obstetrics
• Comfortable providing OB hospitalist coverage and handling GYN cases as part of practice
• Familiarity with EPIC documentation system or willingness to adapt quickly
• Strong clinical judgment, excellent communication, and teamwork skills
• Ability to work rotating day and night shifts during the assignment

Education

• MD or DO (Physician)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of obstetric care, labor and delivery management, and inpatient protocols
• Experience managing common GYN issues and coordinating with surgical teams
• Proficiency or comfort using EPIC for documentation and order entry
• Skilled in acute decision making, crisis management, and cross-disciplinary collaboration
• Patient-centered communication and clear handoffs between shifts
