Roles & Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee the mammography program, ensuring seamless patient flow from scheduling to follow-up
- Develop, implement and sustain a high-quality breast health program in collaboration with the Imaging Director and Radiologist Medical Director
- Provide ongoing education and mentorship to mammography technologists, maintaining MQSA and ACR/FDA compliance
- Perform and evaluate low-dose x-ray mammography and osteoporosis exams with a focus on diagnostic quality and patient safety
- Maintain QC/QI documentation, compile statistics, and assist with MQSA Bi-Rad program requirements and reporting
- Operate and troubleshoot diagnostic imaging equipment, and ensure proper maintenance and service coordination
- Manage patient interactions with compassion—obtain histories, position/transfer patients safely, and document findings accurately
- Assist with scheduling, record maintenance, and collaboration with admitting and other departments to optimize patient experience
Qualifications
- Graduated from an ARRT-approved radiography program or equivalent as defined by WA Department of Health (WAC 246-926-110 and RCW 18.84)
- ARRT Registered in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M) — required
- MQSA certification for mammography per FDA — required
- CPR Healthcare Provider (HCP) certification required within three months of hire
- Prefer three years' experience in the mammography field
- Demonstrated leadership, strong communication, problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to demonstrate competency on department-specific equipment checklist and participate in staff competency assessments
Education
- Graduated from an ARRT-approved radiography program or equivalent (per WA DOH WAC 246-926-110 and RCW 18.84)
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of mammography, radiography and low-dose x-ray techniques
- Familiarity with MQSA, ACR and FDA standards and certification processes
- Quality control and quality improvement (QC/QI) program management
- Proficiency operating diagnostic imaging and peripheral equipment, plus basic computer skills
- Patient handling, safe lifting and proper positioning across the age continuum
- Strong organizational skills for scheduling, data entry, statistical reporting and record maintenance
- Effective teaching and training skills for mentoring technologists
- Excellent interpersonal skills, confidentiality, and professional bedside manner
