Geriatric Nursing Assistant
Location: Lanham, MD
Contract Type: Per-Diem
Shift Type: Days not specified, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (Day shift)
Hours per Week: 40
Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to elderly residents, supporting dignity and independence
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting
- Support safe mobility and fall-prevention measures during transfers and ambulation
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report concerns to the nursing team
- Document care accurately and timely in the resident chart
- Collaborate with nurses and therapists to follow care plans and improve resident outcomes
- Engage residents with respectful communication and meaningful social interaction
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification (required)
- Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Comfortable with physical aspects of care including lifting and assisted transfers
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach to elder care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- GNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of elder care best practices and compassion-focused care
- Infection control and safe hygiene techniques
- Basic charting and documentation practices
- Ability to follow care plans and report changes accurately
- Teamwork, time management, and strong observational skills
