Geriatric Nursing Assistant

Location: Lanham, MD

Contract Type: Per-Diem

Shift Type: Per diem (days vary), 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (day)

Hours per Week: 40

Candidate Pay Rate: $16 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents during assigned shifts
Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) while preserving dignity
Perform safe transfers and positioning, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
Observe, document, and promptly report changes in resident condition to the nursing team
Support therapeutic activities in the Doctor's Rehab area to promote recovery and independence
Maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control best practices

Qualifications

Current GNA certification (state-required credential) — must be in good standing
High school diploma or GED preferred
Previous experience in long-term care, rehab, or geriatric settings a plus
Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical teams
Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings

Education

High school diploma or GED preferred
GNA certification (required)

Knowledge & Skills

Understanding of geriatric care needs and age-related conditions
Proficient in ADL assistance and safe resident handling techniques
Basic documentation and charting skills
Good observation skills and ability to report clinical changes clearly
Compassionate bedside manner and strong interpersonal skills
