Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents with dignity and respect
• Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, toileting, and mobility
• Monitor residents’ condition and promptly report changes to the nursing team
• Support mealtime assistance and ensure residents’ dietary needs are met
• Document care accurately and maintain clear communication with coworkers
• Create a warm, safe environment that promotes resident comfort and independence

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) in good standing
• Current basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Comfort working with older adults and experience in long-term care or assisted living is a plus
• Reliable, compassionate, and able to follow care plans and facility procedures
• Ability to pass required background checks and any state-specific licensing requirements

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Understanding of geriatric care principles and common age-related conditions
• Skilled in safe transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Strong communication and teamwork skills with residents and interdisciplinary staff
• Basic charting and documentation skills
• Attention to detail when observing and reporting resident changes
• Calm, patient approach to challenging behaviors and care situations
